Cowie Thistle claimed the Premier Trophy at Balmoral with a 3–2 victory over Banchory, securing the title for the second time in three seasons after a closely contested final.
Banchory made the stronger start and created the better early chances, forcing Cowie goalkeeper into a number of solid saves. Despite the early pressure, it was Cowie who opened the scoring against the run of play.
Banchory responded just before the break, capitalising on a long ball forward that allowed their striker to run through and level the match, ensuring the sides went in at 1–1 at half-time.
Cowie regained the lead almost immediately after the restart. Within a minute of the second half to make it 2–1. However, Banchory once again responded quickly, scoring a similar goal to their first to restore parity.
With the match finely balanced, the decisive moment came 15 minutes from time, A finish from a tight angle gave Cowie the lead for a third time.
Banchory pushed for another equaliser late on, but Cowie held firm to secure the trophy.
