League Champions – Season 2008/09

The league championship trophies for season 2008/09 were presented at the AGM on 2nd July.  The winners of the respective leagues were:

Premier Division – Cove Thistle
Division One (North) – Sportsmans Club
Division One (East) – Old Aberdonians
Division Two (North) – Bucksburn United
Division Two (East) – Glendale
Division Three – Hilton

The Frank Waugh Shield was presented to Kincorth as runners-up in the Premier Division in season 2008/09.

Players of the Year – Season 2008/09

The Player of the Year awards are made on the basis of the number of man of the match votes which each player receives from opposition teams in league matches throughout the season.  The Players of the Year for season 2008/09 were:

Premier Division – joint winners – Calum Lamont (University) and Steven Sinclair (Burghmuir)
Division One (North) – Lee McKenzie (Sportsmans Club)
Division One (East) – Cameron Smith (Hazlehead United)
Division Two (North) – Callum McKay (University Colts)
Division Two (East) – Stuart McGuigan (Stoneywood Amateurs)
Division Three – Darren McColl (BSFC)

Fair Play Awards – Season 2008/09

The Fair Play Awards are made to the teams which have the fewest disciplinary points over the course of the season (one point being awarded for a yellow card and five points for a red card).  The winners of the Fair Play Awards for season 2008/09 were:

Premier Division – University
Division One (North) – RGU
Division One (East) – Old Aberdonians
Division Two (North) – Glendale Youth
Division Two (East) – McTeagle
Division Three – Auchnagatt Barons

Secretary’s Award

Alex Leslie of Glendale Youth received the Secretary’s Award for season 2008/09.

Life Membership Awarded to George Duguid

George Duguid of Newtonhill has been awarded Life Membership of the Aberdeenshire Amateur Football Association.  Life Membership of the Association has been awarded on very few occasions and the award was made in recognition of the outstanding service which George has given to amateur football, particularly to Newtonhill Football Club where he has been Club Secretary since 1971.
