Aberdeen FC Trophy Semi Final at Woodside on Saturday 15th May

Premier League Bon Accord City took on Division One East Insch at Woodside Sports Complex in the AFC semi final. At the kick off the weather was perfect but the playing surface was very bumpy.

Insch’s first move in the first minute saw Bon Accord keeper Hill diving to his left pushing the ball for a corner.

Five minutes later Bon Accord went ahead when a long ball from defence found Scott Craig who lobbed keeper Watson from twenty yards.

Insch’s Anderson had a chance to equalise when, with only the keeper to beat, he panicked and his shot was stopped by keeper Hill.

Insch equalised in nineteen minutes when a cross from the right bounced awkwardly in front of Bon Accord’s Craig Tiffney and his attempted clearance ended in his own net.

Just on half time Mark Bartlet beat two men in the box and fired a shot past keeper Watson making the half time score 2-1.

Half-time: 2-1

Insch started the second half the better team winning tackles and finding their men with passes and forcing Bon Accord keeper to make two good saves from Harper and Williams.

In sixty minutes Insch’s keeper had to dive at Barlet’s feet to smother the ball stopping Bartlet scoring. At the other end Insch’s Harper chipped the ball over keeper Hill but the ball hit the crossbar and went out of play.

In sixty five minutes Bon Accord substituted Davidson for Redford and five minutes later Billy Davidson scored from six yards with Insch claiming for offsides.

In seventy minutes Billy Davidson latched on to a perfect pass from Sutherland and beat keeper Watson from fifteen yards putting Bon Accord through to next week’s final against Cowie Thistle.
