Division Two (East) at Aulton on Saturday 7th March

Losing their last four league games puts FC Polska deep in the relegation zone of Division Two (East) having only won three out of eighteen games played this season. Opposition McTeagle are sitting in the lower half of the division but they have only played eleven league games to date and today’s three points moved them up a place in the division.

Polska kicked off on a bumpy heavy pitch with a strong wind blowing across. McTeagle took charge from the start and in eleven minutes Cowieson struck a right foot drive in on goal that keeper Janus got a hand to but he could not stop it entering the net.

Polska were forced to defend deep in their own half with keeper Janus making saves from Rose, Barber and Cowieson. McTeagle went further ahead in sixteen minutes when a cross from the left fell to Barber who passed to Rose and he made no mistake from four yards.

A minute later keeper Janus was in action again when a shot from Cowieson was held at the second attempt. McTeagle’s next attack saw the ball cleared off the line when Barber got a foot to a cross from Leiper.

It was the twenty fifth minute before Polska made a chance when Babis ran down the left, beat two defenders only to see his shot go past the post. Polska’s next move came with a run down the right from Fulawka who passed to Dykiel in front of goal but he could not control the ball and it went out of play.

With thirty seven minutes gone Polska’s Czech standing in his own half hit a long high ball over the heads of the midfield, the defenders and keeper McLennan and the ball dipped into the net for the goal of the game making the half time score 1-2.

Half-time: 1-2

Polska were the better team at the start of the second half and were unlucky when a shot from Badowski hit the cross bar and went out of play. On the hour mark with the ball bouncing about in the six yard box Polska’s Fulawka got a foot to it and sent it past the post. Polska forced two corners in quick succession dealt with comfortably by McTeagle.

Against the run of play McTeagle’s Cowieson broke away and his distance shot found the back of the net. Ten minutes later McTeagle made the game safe when Rose beat two men and slipped the ball under the advancing Polska keeper. Just on full time referee Fleming showed the red card to Polska’s Janowski for a foul on Buchan.
