Postal ALC 3 – 1 Don Athletic (AET)

After a hard fought game underdogs Postal ALC came from behind to win the Castle Rovers Cup in extra time.

Don Athletic went ahead in twenty minutes after a long throw in caught out Postal defence and was headed home by Neil McCoy.

Don Athletic midfield were working hard, winning most of the balls, feeding their strikers who could not take advantage and the score remained 0-1 at half time.

Six minutes into the second half the score was level after Postal’s Chris Turbine’s cross was fired home by Michael Forrester.

In eighty three minutes Postal were awarded a penalty when Steven Ure was brought down in the box. Postal’s David Wood sent the spot kick high over the bar.

With a minute of normal time to go Don Athletic had the ball in the net but the referee’s assistant flagged for offside.

Two minutes into extra time Postal’s Chris Turbine found himself unmarked and ran ten yards before beating keeper Steven Taylor with a shot from eight yards.

With 113 mins on the clock Postal’s Neil Summers put the game beyond doubt with a right foot drive making the final score 3-1.
