Torphins 3 – 1 Fintray Thistle

Over two hundred turned up on a cold wet night to see Torphins pick up their first Trophy since joining the Aberdeenshire AFA two years ago.

Torphins took seven minutes to go ahead when a long ball out of defence fell to Keith Allerdyce whose shot beat keeper Matthew.

Two minutes later a corner to Fintray taken by Martin Smith found Barry Jamieson who scored with a right foot drive.

Torphins then took charge of the game and forced Fintray’s keeper Danny Matthew to make two great saves. Fintray’s defence stood firm until five minutes before the break when Torphins’ Steven Travers headed home a corner at the near post making the half time score 2-1.

The first fifteen minutes of the second half belonged to Fintray but they could not break down a strong Torphins defence.

With seventy five minutes on the clock Torphins’ Steven Travers scored the goal of the game when a twenty yard drive flew into the corner of the net making the final score 3-1.
