AC Mill Inn booked their place in the third round of the Fosters Centenary Scottish Amateur Cup at the expense of FC Geldie. Glendale Youth recorded a 2-1 victory against Division Two (North) pace setters Mugiemoss Youth while Hilton hit six goals to move within two points of the lead in Division Three.
Scottish Amateur Cup 3rd Round Draw
The draw for the third round of the Fosters Centenary Scottish Amateur Cup has thrown up plenty of interesting ties for AAFA clubs. Blackburn will travel to holders Eddlewood of the Central Scottish AFL. Glendale XI will host 2006/07 winners Drumchapel United. There are two all-AAFA match-ups with Hazlehead United hosting Hilton and Highland Hotel entertaining Great Western United.
Torry United 3 – 4 Johnshaven Athletic
Torry perhaps held the upper hand in the psychological stakes prior to this enthralling North of Scotland Cup tie at Inverdee, having beaten Johnshaven only two weeks previously by the odd goal in three in a very competitive league encounter, but Athletic travelled north with a strong squad determined to maintain their cup challenge.
Fixtures for 25th October
FC Geldie host AC Mill Inn in the outstanding Fosters Centenary Scottish Amateur Cup second round tie. Cowie Thistle face Hunty Amateurs in first round of the North of Scotland Amateur Cup while RGU take on Ellon Thistle in the Aberdeen FC Trophy. Sportsmans Club will hope to make a dent in AC Mill Inn’s seven point advantage in Division One (North) when they entertain Stonehaven Athletic.
Results for 18th October
Glendale XI, Bucksburn United and Halliburton all booked their places in the next round of the Fosters Centenary Scottish Amateur Cup. Continental and Grammar Rovers progressed in the Aberdeen FC Trophy. Dyce beat RGU 2-0 in the first round of the Stephen Shield. Echt defeated Great Western United 3-1 and now share the Premier Division lead with Kincorth.
Banchory Amateurs win Ian Napier Memorial Shield
Banchory Ams captain Scott Girvan picked up the club’s first trophy of the season when they beat Kincorth 2-1 in the Ian Napier Memorial Trophy at Lads Club on Sunday 12th October. McRitchie and Stewart gave Banchory a 2-0 lead. Gove pulled one back for Kincorth but, despite dominating the closing stages, they couldn’t force the game into extra time.
Fixtures for 18th October
Two Scottish Amateur Cup second round replays and eight North of Scotland first round ties take centre stage this coming Saturday. In addition to a host of local cup games there’s a top-of-the-table Premier Division clash with Echt travelling to Woodside Sports Complex to take on current leaders Great Western United.
General Committee Meeting – 30th October
The next General Committee Meeting of all clubs will take place on Thursday 30th October. Please note that this is different from the date shown in the 2008-09 Handbook. The meeting will take place at the International Lounge in the Richard Donald Stand at Pittodrie Stadium and commences at 7.30pm. All clubs are asked to attend.
Lads Club Ams 0 – 3 Stonehaven Athletic
Stonehaven Athletic got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 3-0 win at Lads Club Ams after an impressive second-half display. A quick-fire Reid brace was added to by Stewart late on, after the home side had been reduced to 10 men.
Results for 11th/12th October
Newtonhill progressed to the national stages of the Fosters Centenary Scottish Amateur Cup after getting the better of Nicolls Amateurs in their 2nd round replay. Stoneywood SSC went through to the next round of the Aberdeen FC Trophy, defeating Glentanar Reflex 2-1 at home. In the Premier league Cowie Thistle were defeated 2-1 at home by University.
