AC Mill Inn 0 – 4 Cowie Thistle
Holders Cowie Thistle took on local rivals AC Mill Inn in this Association Trophy First Round derby match at Stonehaven. Cowie were one up at the break thanks to a Robert Day goal. A brace from Martin McLean and a strike from Ross Abernethy gave the visitors a 4-0 win in a game which was closely fought, depite the scoreline.

Cowie Thistle ran out 4-0 winners against AC Mill Inn in the Association Trophy. Don Athletic progressed to the second round of the Dickie Trophy after beating Auchnagatt Barons 3-1. In the Premier Trophy Echt got the better of Bon Accord City and in the Stephen Shield Ellon Thistle defeated Newtonhill. Rothie Rovers won their first round tie in the Castle Rovers Cup as did Potterton in the Barclay Cook Cup.
Cup Draws made on 3rd September
The draws for the second round of the Aberdeen FC Trophy, the Association Trophy and the Dickie Trophy were made at the Executive Committee meeting on Thursday 3rd September. The Association and Dickie Trophies have been kindly sponsored by Colin’s One Stop Motor Shop this season.
Torphins 0 – 3 Portlethen Utd
A fine second half hat-trick from Jordan Gray gave Portlethen Utd a comfortable 3-0 win away from home against Torphins at Kincardine O’Neil. The three points gives Portlethen a record of 3 wins and 3 defeats while Torphins have a win and 3 draws from their seven Division Three games so far.
Fixtures for 5th September
In the Aberdeen FC Trophy West End travel to Fettercairn to meet Mearns United while Sportsmans Club go to Tarves. There’s an all-Premier local derby in Stonehaven when AC Mill Inn take on Cowie Thistle in the Association Trophy. The Dickie Trophy also has a number of first round ties including BSFC v ARI Thistle and Don Athletic v Auchnagatt Barons.
Results for 29th August
Hazlehead United continued their good start to the season with a 3-1 win at Westdyke in the Aberdeen FC Trophy. Kemnay Youth and Rothie Rovers both progressed to the second round of the Dickie Trophy and Sportsmans Club edged past AC Mill Inn in a high scoring Premier Trophy encounter. In league action, Ellon Amateurs extended their lead in Division Two (East) with a 3-0 victory against Fintray Thistle.
Fixtures for 29th August
Next Saturday sees the start of this season’s cup competitions with first round action in the Aberdeen FC, Association, Dickie and Premier Trophies. In the AFC Trophy Hazlehead Utd are likely to be tough opponents for Westdyke. The Association Trophy tie between Postal ALC and Newmachar Utd could be a tight affair. Newly promoted Sportsmans Club and AC Mill Inn meet in the Premier Trophy.
Glendale 2 – 2 West End
A point to both teams was a fair result in an exciting game played on a good surface. The hosts led 1-0 at half-time thanks to a Noble goal. West End turned things around after the break and went ahead with goals from Gray and Cummine. A penalty from Glendale’s Garden levelled things with 10 minutes to play.
General Committee Meeting – 3rd September
The next General Committee Meeting takes place on Thursday 3rd September. The meeting will be held in the International Lounge in the Richard Donald Stand at Pittodrie Stadium and starts at 7.30pm. All clubs are asked to attend.
Results for 22nd August
Bon-Accord City won 5-4 at Echt to go joint top of the Premier Division with Old Aberdonians who defeated Kincorth 2-0. Hazlehead United are a point clear of Tarves at the top of Division One (North) while Woodside recorded their seventh straight win in Division One (East). FC Polska won by the odd goal in nine at Torphins to extend their lead in Division Three.
