Results for 18th May
Echt kept their title hopes alive with a comfortable 6-1 victory at home to Cowie Thistle. Mintlaw also enjoyed an easy win as they cruised to a 5-0 win at University Colts. In Division Two (East) Glendale were the happier of the sides after they drew 3-3 with Stoneywood Amateurs. They now need two points from their remaining two games to take the league title.
Fixtures for 23rd May
As the league season moves into it’s final stages next Saturday sees the final games for many teams. In Division Two (North) Cammachmore host Mintlaw in a game which could still be important in deciding who is relegated. Glendale’s games against Rothie Rovers may still decide the destination of the Division Two (East) title depending on how games go this week.
Cove Thistle 1 – 4 Echt
Cove Thistle still need all three points from their last game against University to secure the Premier League title. Echt’s keeper Stephen Garden was the star of the match, saving a penalty and then scoring from inside his own eighteen yard box.
Results for 16th May
Bucksburn United are the Division Two (North) champions after they defeated Feughside 8-4. Cove Thistle missed out on the chance to claim the Premier Division crown as they lost 4-1 to Echt. Many games fell victim to the heavy rain but in the games that were played Huntly Ams improved their chances of avoiding the drop from Division Two (North) with a win while both Mintlaw and Cammachmore lost.
Fixtures for 18th to 22nd May
Next Monday’s Premier Division fixtures are provisional and depend on the result of tonight’s Aberdeen FC Trophy semi final. If Echt win then they will play Banchory and University will play Cowie. If University win then they will play Westdyke and Echt will play Cowie. Also on Monday there’s a potentially decisive clash in Division Two (East) between Stoneywood Ams and Glendale.
Results for 13th May and 14th May
Thursday evening saw University progress to the final of the Aberdeen FC Trophy final as they defeated Echt 3-0. University will now meet Cowie Thistle in the final. On Wednesday Sportsmans Club clinched the Division One (North) title with a 4-1 win at Lads Club Amateurs. Kincorth kept their Premier title chances alive by beating Great Western 1-0.
Results for 11th and 12th May
In Tuesday night’s only game University drew 1-1 with Nicolls Ams in the Premier Division. On Monday Echt defeated Burghmuir 2-1 to keep their slim Premier title hopes alive. In Division Two (North) both Bucksburn Utd and Newmachar Utd won. Glendale drew at Ellon Thistle which knocked the home side out of the Division Two (East) race.
Hazlehead United win the North of Scotland Cup
Hazlehead United lifted the North of Scotland Amateur Cup following a 3-2 win against University in an excellent final at Allan Park on Sunday. Kolawole had opened the scoring for University but strikes from Smith, Humphries and Emslie gave Hazlehead a 3-1 half-time lead. Lamont pulled a goal back after the break but the Uni’ were unable to find an equaliser.
Fixtures for 16th May
In the Association Trophy quarter finals Glendale XI take on AC Mill Inn and Sportsmans Club host Kincorth while Old Aberdonians visit University in the third round. Cove Thistle will be looking to clinch the Premier Division title when they entertain Echt. Division Two (North) leaders Bucksburn Utd face Feughside. In Division Two (East) leaders Glendale are also at home against Rothie Rovers.
Hilton win the Dickie Trophy
Hilton picked up their third trophy of the season at Milton Park, Crathes, on Friday evening. They ran out comfortable 4-0 winners against Glendale in the final of the Dickie Trophy. Clayton, Sinclair, Merchant and Shirreffs were the goalscorers.
